Based in Mithi in Tharparkar district, Basar Mal is the son of the famous Bhagat Salu Ram and one of the leading bhajan singers of Sindh. He started learning Bhakti devotional songs from his father at the age of 13, and today, recites regularly for temples, satsung gatherings, and Radio Pakistan. Basar Bhagat sings the kalaam of Kabir, Mirabai, Tulsidas, Rohal Faqir and Shah Abdul Lateef Bhitai amongst others, in languages including Braj Bhasha, Hindi, Sindhi, Urdu, Gujarati, and Marwari.
