Abrar Ahmad

Abrar Ahmad was born in 1954 in Jaranwala, Punjab. He is influenced by existentialist philosophy, and the basic struggle in his poetic thought relates to the phenomenon of displacement from rural to urban and foreign lands. His diction exudes an apparent simplicity that captivates the reader. His collection of nazm is titled “Aakhri Din Se Pehle” (1997) while his ghazal collection is titled “Ghaflat Ke Baraber” (2007). Since 2006, he has also written extensively on contemporary Urdu literature for The News on Sunday. Abrar Ahmad is an ENT specialist, and currently resides in Lahore.

ابرار احمد ۱۹۵۴ میں جڑاں والا، پنجاب میں پیدا ہوئے۔ وہ وجودیت کے فلسفے سے متاثر ہیں، اور اُن کی شاعرانہ فکر کا بنیادی مرکز دیہات سے شہروں کی طرف نقل مکانی کا عمل ہے۔ ابرار احمد کے شاعرانہ اظہار میں ایک دلکش سادگی ہے۔ ان کی نظموں کا ایک مجموعہ ۱۹۹۷ میں ’آخری دن سے پہلے‘ کے نام سے شائع ہوا، اور غزلوں کا مجموعہ ۲۰۰۷ میں ’غفلت کے برابر‘ کے نام سے۔ ۲۰۰۶ سے وہ دی نِیوُز آن سنڈے کے لیئے معاصر اردو ادب پر لکھتے آئے ہیں۔ ابرار احمد ای این ٹی اسپیشلسٹ ہیں، اور لاہور میں رہتے ہیں۔
