Born in 1948, Azra Abbas is a prominent Karachi-based Urdu poet. She is best known for her unique style of feminist prose poems in which she contemplates her inner self and subjective experiences, as well as the realities of the world around her. Her musings are remarkably imaginative, and she manages to be political in intimate and insidious ways. Apart from publishing three books of poems and one collection of short stories, Azra has also written a memoir of her childhood titled “Mera Bachpan”.
